Peter Mulvey wrote “Take Down Your Flag” two days following the Charleston, SC shooting on June 17. He performed it the same night at the Calvin Theater in Northampton opening a show for Ani. As of Wednesday, July 8 the South Carolina state Senate voted to take down the Confederate Flag 37-3 and the bill is now going to the House.
UPDATE: As of Thursday, July 9 the South Carolina state House voted 94-20 in favor to take down the Confederate Flag. GOP Gov. Nikki Haley will sign the bill at 4 PM ET after which the Confederate Flag has to be taken down on state grounds within 24 hours.
